POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

SOCIAL STUDY OF SCIENCE, MEDICINE, TECHNOLOGY OR THE ENVIRONMENT

Michigan State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track
position as an assistant professor beginning fall 2004 in the Lyman Briggs
School (LBS) (http://www.msu.edu/unit/lbs/), a vibrant undergraduate,
residential science and liberal arts program in the College of Natural
Science. Candidates should have a PhD with a specialization in the social
study of science, medicine, technology, or the environment. The ideal
candidate will be passionate about teaching, and will be expected to
maintain an active research program. The successful candidate will work
closely with undergraduates, teaching four courses per year which may
include an introduction to science, technology and society, upper level
courses in sociology of science, medicine, technology or the environment,
and a senior seminar.   A joint appointment with the Department of Sociology
will add to MSUšs growing cross-college collaboration.  The salary will be
competitive and commensurate with experience.  Letters of application,
accompanied by a curriculum vitae, writing sample, teaching philosophy,
