The Bioethics Program invites applications for a tenure-track faculty
position, rank open.  The successful candidate will participate in a new
interdisciplinary Bioethics Program, housed in the Center for Biology
and Society within the School of Life Sciences.  Desired start date is
August 16, 2004.  Senior candidates must have (1) a distinguished record
of scholarship in the field of bioethics appropriate to rank, (2)
excellence in teaching, (3) either had projects or contributed
substantially to externally funded projects, and (4) collaborated with
individuals from other disciplines.  Junior candidates must (1) exhibit
potential for a distinguished record of scholarship in the field of
bioethics, (2) demonstrate teaching experience and promise for
excellence in teaching, (3) show potential for participating in funded
research, and (4) show potential for collaborations with individuals
doing research in the life sciences.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D., J.D., or M.D.  Scholars from a variety of
disciplines are eligible to apply, although preference will be given to
applicants with backgrounds in normative scholarship in bioethics and
who will complement existing strengths at ASU.  Salary competitive and
commensurate with experience.

The Bioethics Program is richly interdisciplinary drawing from the life
sciences, philosophy, history and philosophy of science, religious
studies, history, political science, justice studies, nursing, law,
public policy, sociology, anthropology and other programs.  The Program
and its faculty interact with a number of ongoing major initiatives
including Arizona BioDesign Institute which houses several Centers
focused on the application of biotechnology and nanotechnology to human
health issues; the Center for Environmental Studies; the Center for Law,
Sciences and Technology; the Center for Religion and Conflict, and the
Lincoln Center for Applied Ethics.

	Statement of teaching experience, interest and philosophy

	Description of research program and future plans
