Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Two Positions) 

Faculty of Arts: Biohumanities Project, School of History, Philosophy,
Religion and Classics, University of Queensland


Applications are invited for the above positions. The Biohumanities
Project is a five-year research project in the philosophy, history and
socio-cultural studies of bioscience funded by the grant of an ARC
Federation Fellowship to Professor Paul E. Griffiths.

The appointees will join a team consisting of the head of the project, a
number of postdoctoral fellows and postgraduate students, and associated
faculty in other parts of the university, primarily the Faculty of Arts
and the Institute for Molecular Biosciences. The role will involve
individual and collaborative research and participation in academic
conferences and workshops at the university and elsewhere.

Applicants should possess a PhD or equivalent qualification, in
Philosophy of Science or History of Science or Social Studies of
Science, or a PhD in the biological sciences and demonstrated experience
in Philosophy of Science, History of Science or Social Studies of
Science. Demonstrated ability to complete research projects, publish,
and pursue external funding is also required. 

The appointment is a 3 year fixed term basis as research only, or
dependent on skills and knowledge, the applicant may negotiate a 4 year
fixed term contract with limited teaching. The position is available
from the beginning of the 2005 academic year, February 28th 2005. The
remuneration package will be in the range of $52,929.91 to $64,466.06
per annum, including employer superannuation contributions of 17%.
