Southwest Colloquium in the History and Philosophy of the Life Sciences
The Southwest Colloquium in the History and Philosophy of the Life Sciences will
be held at Arizona State University on 1-2 April 2005. This is an annual event
that includes a one-day Graduate Student Symposium and a one-day
Faculty/Graduate Student Workshop devoted to a specific topic, that will be held
in alternating years at Arizona State University and the University of Texas,
Austin. It is sponsored by the Center for Biology & Society, School of Life
Sciences, Arizona State University, and the Program in the History and
Philosophy of Science, Department of Philosophy, University of Texas at Austin.
The colloquium is open to graduate students and faculty from all over the world.
This is the third year of the Southwest Colloquium in the History and Philosophy
of the Life Sciences Ð the topic is "Experimentation and Observation". The
keynote address will be presented by Paul Farber, OSU Distinguished Professor of
History of Science, Oregon State University.
The submission deadline for abstracts is 7 January 2004. All submissions will
be subject to peer review. For additional details, as well as abstract
