Biomedical History

The University of South Carolina Department of History seeks to appoint an
assistant professor in the history of 20th century biological sciences,
medicine, or biotechnology. Candidates with transnational research interests
are of particular interest. The successful candidate will teach graduate and
undergraduate courses in the history of medicine, history of science, and
contribute to the department's survey teaching needs. Candidates must have a
PhD in history, history of science or a related area and the ability to satisfy
tenure and promotion criteria in the Department of History. USC has a thriving
interdisciplinary science, technology, and medicine studies group including a
large NSF-funded program on the social and ethical implications of
nanotechnology. In addition, USC offers a minor in medical humanities.
