CALL FOR PAPERS
THE SOCIETY FOR PHENOMENOLOGY AND THE HUMAN SCIENCES
2006 ANNUAL CONFERENCE
IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SOCIETY OF
PHENOMENOLOGY AND EXISTENTIAL PHILOSOPHY
October 12 - 14, 2006

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

SPHS requests submissions for conference presentations. Papers should explore
qualitative approaches to the human and social sciences. They can aim at human
sciences in general, or can focus on particular sciences, including sociology,
communications, psychology, education, nursing, womenÕs studies, and others.
Phenomenological approaches are emphasized, but related methods, such as
existentialism, ethnography, grounded theory, ecological theory,
post-structuralism, or depth psychology, are appropriate as well.
Submissions on all topics are welcome, but the following are particularly
encouraged, since we anticipate sessions in these areas:
1. Phenomenology and personal transformation
2. Cross cultural concerns in qualitative research
3. Spirituality and the human sciences
4. Graduate student dissertation and thesis projects
In addition to individual paper submissions, we welcome organized symposia with
presenters, paper titles, and abstracts included.
Abstracts should be 1000 words for individual papers, 1500 words for organized
symposia. Submissions must be received by mail no later than MONDAY MARCH 27, 5
p.m. Include contact information on a cover page: name, mailing address, phone
numbers, and email address. Send 2 hard copies, typed and double-spaced, to:
