Call for Papers

The Committee for Integrated History and Philosophy of Science invites proposals
for papers to be presented at its first conference. Papers may be in all areas
of integrated history and philosophy of science, including all time periods and
sciences, as well as methodological papers on the nature of integrated history
and philosophy of science. Papers will be selected on the basis of their novel
scholarship and on the extent to which they successfully embody or address the
notion of an integration of work in history of science and philosophy of
science.

Proposals may be made to the open sessions or to thematic sessions moderated by
committee members.

Ernan McMullin (University of Notre Dame,"sage") and Peter Machamer (University
of Pittsburgh, "seer") will speak on the past and future of history and
philosophy of science.

Deadline for proposals: 1 March 2007
Format: Abstract of paper, 1000 words
Submit to: pittcntr@pitt.edu.
The committee's decision on papers accepted will be communicated by 15 April 2007.

Supplementary travel support may be available for speakers.

Limited travel support is available for graduate students in advanced stages of
research in a doctoral dissertation whose project successfully integrates
history and philosophy of science. Inquire at pittcntr@pitt.edu.
