POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Two positions, one at assistant or associate professor levels, one at open rank
(assistant, associate, full). Candidates for assistant or associate level will
be considered for both positions. Area of specialization (AOS): open. Area of
competence (AOC): open. The department has particular needs and interests in
ethics, core analytic philosophy (including mind and science), and history of
philosophy. These positions are open until filled. To be assured consideration
in the first round, applications must be postmarked by November 26, 2007. The
search committee will begin reading files immediately. The principal
qualifications for a candidate are a strong research record (for a senior
appointment) or a promising beginning (for a junior appointment) and the ability
to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level. Duties include research,
graduate supervision, committee service, and a teaching load of four quarter
courses per year. It is understood that a special effort must be made to reach a
diverse pool of candidates for this position. Candidates should have completed
their Ph.D. degree, or be very likely to complete it, by July 1, 2008. Junior
applicants send letter of application, cv, three letters of reference, and a
sample of written work. Senior candidates send letter of application and cv.
