Transformations of Lamarckism: 200 Years to the Philosophie Zoologique
The Twenty-Third Annual International Workshop on the History and Philosophy of Science
Sunday-Wednesday, June 7-10, 2009

The Cohn Institute Tel Aviv University, The Edelstein Center, The Hebrew
University of Jerusalem, and the Van Leer Institute of Jerusalem are
organizing a workshop "Transformations of Lamarckism". The workshop
celebrates the 200th anniversary of the publication of Lamarck’s
Philosophie Zoölogique, a book that has had an enduring impact on both
biological and sociological thought. By bringing together historians,
philosophers and biologists concerned with present-day issues in
biology, the workshop will reappraise the historical and contemporary
significance of Lamarckism. A special session will be devoted to future
perspectives.

The Sourasky Library Hall, Tel Aviv University
Admission is free.
