The 45th Joint Atlantic Seminar in the History of Biology will be held
at Harvard University on Saturday, March 27, 2010.
The Joint Atlantic Seminar offers the opportunity for graduate students
in the history of the life sciences to present their work to a
well-informed audience in an intimate and encouraging setting. JAS-Bio
has fostered a long tradition of collegiality amongst historians of
biology in the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada. Now
in its fifth decade, it was the venue where many of today?s senior
participants gave their first academic talk.
For attendees who are able to arrive on Friday afternoon, there will be
a tour of Louis Agassiz's Museum of Comparative Zoology followed by an
informal welcoming reception. A celebratory dinner will be held on
Saturday evening after the presentations.
Attendance at the seminar is free for graduate students. Registration
is required for all attendees.
To register, please send an email to Alistair Sponsel sponsel@fas.harvard.edu
containing your name, institutional affiliation and contact information,
and whether you expect to attend the events on Friday and/or the Saturday
evening dinner.
Students who would like to present a paper should send a title and
one-page abstract to Alistair Sponsel by emailing the address above, or
by writing to:
