We, the above printed editors, are preparing a book to be published by
Springer on the topic, "Origins of Design in Nature". We think that you
might have something important to say on this matter, and would like to
invite you to be an author and a dialoguer. Our plan is to ask you to
draft your chapter’s manuscript for:
Gordon, R., L. Stillwaggon Swan & J. Seckbach, Eds. (2011). Origins of Design in Nature.
Dordrecht, Springer.
by September 1, 2010. We would then circulate the chapters to all of the
authors, and maybe a few other people, for dialogue. The dialogue would
generally be by e-mail, with copies sent to us (the editors) and it
would appear at the end of each chapter.
If you are interested in participating in this new volume, please send
to all of us (emails above) a tentative title for your chapter, as well
as a very brief (200 word) abstract. We will send further information (a
formal invitation and Springer writing style guidelines) to all invited
authors.
We hope that you could then manage to attend the International Society
for History, Philosophy, and Social Studies of Biology (ISHPSSB,
http://www.ishpssb.org/) meeting in Salt Lake City (Utah, USA) July
10th-16th 2011, where you would present your thoughts to a wider
audience. We would record the sessions, and add dialogue with the
audience to the text. After the meeting we would submit the lot for
publication.
We have no travel funds to offer, but with your backing may be able to
apply for some. Attendance at the ISHPSSB is not mandatory, though we
hope you will be able to join us there.
We look forward to your reply.
Best Regards,
Liz Stillwaggon Swan
